My sarcastic mind reads that sign and immediately thinks, "You were?"
I guess they wanted to have a more polite sign than "Closed". They wanted to tell us that they were open, but aren't anymore. :)
Clearly the apostrophe after the 'e' in 'were'...so, they were once open, huh? ;-)
