An Epidemic of Anus

Once was funny. Twice made us feel sick. A third time--even with a slightly different recipe--is an epidemic of ick. We're talking about restaurants that misspell the word "Angus."

Behold the McDonald's sign we swiped from our uncle's Facebook feed:

Here is a previous post on the topic. We recall writing a third one using a photograph our brother sent but were unable to dig the link out of our archives.

Ignoring the fact that two out of three of these sightings came from our own relatives, let us just say that it is wildly disturbing that the people with their hands on our meat supply don't know the difference between "anus" and "Angus."

There is a big difference. Gargantuan. Galactic. Ginormous. Gee, how we wish they'd learn it.

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that they don't know how to spell "Angus." It's much more likely that the local middle school boys know how to create hysterical adolescent comedy by swiping a G from the sign.

Bob, that's possible. One of the signs was up high. This one doesn't have room for the whole word. Perhaps their lawyers are insisting on truth in advertising. You know how lawyers are!

It's so nice to see that they used the correct article (an instead of a), but you'd really think they could have made that mistake instead then the g would have fit.

When I was at McDonalds a few months back I had the luck to see this terrible error. I had to pretend that I was texting so I could take a picture -- I try to document these things as often as possible!

That is hilarious! but much more worrying is the right-wing conspiracy to make “refudiate” an actual word?

I imagine whoever put up the sign thought it would be really funny if they accidentally forgot to include the G.

Not that Scary Palin is smart enough, but "refudiate" could be a portmanteau of "refute" and "repudiate".
